Everything Comes At Once

Everything Comes At Once

So, it's all happening right now. Everything that I've asked for...meditated on...knew that I could do or be...NOW...and this is both from an artistic, professional and a relationship perspective. It's like a wind storm and if I want it all to fly, I don't have any choice but to just go with it. So I am.

1. A new home "boutique" (for want of a better way to state it) with higher end furniture, accessories, and art has commissioned me to do a collection of seven photographs for them in a particular theme...flowers. All of that is coming together very quickly and yesterday, they selected their prints for the store.

2. An artist's agent contacted me at the end of last week to tell me that she is booking me continuously from October (I'M GOING AWAY AT THE BEGINNING OF OCTOBER FOR TEN DAYS) on in different gallery spaces. I have no idea what that means yet in terms of what I need to have ready to hang.

3. My husband is moving out at the end of September. No worries although there are emotions and logistics definitely tied to the change. We are best of friends and made this decision in January. He and my daughter and her boyfriend are actually swapping places to live. He will move into their studio apartment in town and they will move into his home office at the house.

4. Life at work has moved in the direction I wanted however with that comes additional responsibility and work.

5. I force time for exercise at the gym and meditation each day. I recognize that I am too tight now in too many ways if I don't do either of them regularly.

Emotionally
Physically
Mentally
Spiritually

I know I am blessed with many things but all I can say is be careful what you ask for. It will eventually come at you...maybe even all at once.

What was your favorite recent gift?

This year's mother's day gift from my 17 year old son...a pair of quartz earrings. He had gone away on a school trip for three days to Boston and Salem to perform at a music competition and during the trip, he bought me the earrings for mother's day. No one told him to do it. No one reminded him of mother's day. He did it on his own. And it wouldn't have mattered if the gift had been a plastic kazoo, the mere fact that he had done it all on his own was priceless.

What do you appreciate most about your mother?

My mom is 88 years old and has been an example of hard work and loving goodness to me all of my life.  I am 51 and when I was 3 years old, my mom went back to work on an assembly line making circuit boards.  She was a woman ahead of her time back in the late 50's because women did not work.  Women stayed home and took care of the children but given that we were of modest means and although my dad had a good job working for the federal government, mom went back to work while I stayed with my grandparents during the day.  She still did all the donna reed stuff.  She cooked, cleaned, took care of me and my sister who was 11-years older than I, made all my clothes because from the age of 15, she worked as a seamstress in the garment industry, and made sure that we had a sense of family.  Subsequently, she ended up back in the garment industry and sat a sewing machine until she was about 65 years old. I look at her now at this point in her life and realize how lucky I have been and how lucky I am to have her still with me in this life.
